Wild Card Poker deadline creeps up
Set up the tripod, throw some product in your hair and start rehearsing witty banter: Just two weeks remain to submit an audition video for Bodog.com's Calvin Ayre Wild Card Poker II.
The poker room is selling the event as the biggest in reality television history, with $2 million in prizes up for grabs and spots for just 12 contestants.
Bodog.com will stop accepting applications May 6, giving aspiring poker players and fame seekers just 13 days to upload a photo or a two- to three-minute video that explains why they are perfect for the series.
The Wild Card II selection process gives anyone a chance at the cash, with some candidates being pulled from the pool of applicants and others winning their way onto the show via online poker tournaments three times a week this month.
The top five finishers at these events are automatically entered into a final tournament to determine who moves on to the show.
This year's program will be filmed in British Columbia, Canada, where the chosen ones will spend 30 days this summer being filmed by Bodog.com cameras. The show will air sometime this fall.
Filming has yet to begin and company founder Calvin Ayre is already predicting a bigger and better series than last year.
"The new direction we're taking with the second season of the show - integrating the social networking and user generated content world by casting 11 of the contestants online - is guaranteed to have an interesting effect on the dynamics," he said in a release.
More information on the applications process can be found on Bodog.com or on YouTube.
