Company drops lawsuit against rival PokerTek
Pokermatic Inc. dismissed its lawsuit against PokerTek on Friday after accusing the rival company of unfair competition, conspiracy and defamation.
In a release yesterday, PokerTek said Pokermatic Inc. voluntarily dismissed charges filed in July, adding that the dismissal was without prejudice.
The companies both market electronic technology that allows casino poker play without requiring a dealer or cards. PokerTek's product is called the PokerPro, while Pokermatic Inc. advertises Lightning Poker system; both are designed to decrease costs for gambling halls.
Pokermatic filed the charges in a federal court, alleging PokerTek lied to customers by telling them Lightning Poker infringes on existing design patents. The company was seeking damages and attorney fees, as well as an injunction against further acts of conspiracy.
