Full Review
Colt Poker is a new poker site available to both American and international poker players on the Cake Poker network.
Not the flagship room on the network by any means, but being on the network gives players access to all the biggest promotons and tournaments plus the solid software.
Game selection is somewhat limited still but varied enough for most players with Hold’em, Omaha and Omaha Hi-Lo the primary offerings.
The player base is expanding and now consistently ranks in the top 10 poker networks in the world so it’s not hard to find a game at most hours of the day.
Action is still heavily concentrated on lower-limit hold’em games though as you might expect.
The software used is the latest version of the Cake software, which is good.
Functions include a fully re-sizable lobby, direct registration, player stat tools and table customization.
Newbies will also like the large-sized action buttons, making it easy to find the right one and help avoid misclicks.
Players can also change Player IDs once every 7 days.

Tournaments and Freerolls
Colt Poker has good tournament volume overall thanks to the volume on the Cake network.
Colt Poker offers tournaments in Hold’em, Pot-Limit Omaha and Omaha Hi-Lo with Turbo and Deepstack options for multi-table Hold’em tournaments.
Sit-and-gos are also cheap and frequent for the low-stakes players, with a growing but limited selection of higher stakes SNGs.
Players looking to build their bankroll up from scratch will be happy to know Cake Poker runs lots of freerolls - especially for players who recently deposited.
Software and Graphics
The Colt Poker software is decent. It’s not going to blow anybody away, but it does offer all the basics you need to find and start playing a game or tournament quickly.
There are two basic table set-ups: classic and simple. One has lifelike avatars who make the moves for you, the other doesn’t.
Also available are player notes, seat selection, auto-rebuy, hand histories and a four-color deck.
The recent Cake 2.0 software upgrade also added some nice new features for the more advanced player, including customizable tables, a re-sizable lobby, advanced player stat functions, a tournament calendar and direct registration.
Soft Competition
In a word: soft.
In two words: very soft.
Lots of new players at Colt Poker, lots of loose and terrible play and none of the steady-hand regulars you’ll find at most poker sites.
If you’re looking for a soft game in 2011, it doesn’t get any better than this.
