There's poker in Oklahoma, baby!

The Cherokee Casino Resort in Tulsa, Okla., has been steadily building a reputation as the place to go in middle America for major poker action.

It already plays host to the Scotty Nguyen Poker Challenge, the Oklahoma State Poker Championship and the Cherokee Poker Classic, which draw in big money and some big names, and now the casino is adding the Mid-South Poker Classic.

Running May 15-26, the tournament series will feature 20 events over 12 days of play. The highlight of the series will be the Budweiser Celebrity Poker Classic, featuring sports celebrities and poker professionals in attendance to benefit the local charity Tulsa Sports Charities.

Expected to attend the charity event are former World Champion kickboxer Dale "Apollo" Cook, baseball player Lee Mayberry, and Pat Jones from Oklahoma State University.

Jan Fischer and Linda Johnson will be in attendance from the poker world. Scotty Nguyen will also be returning to the casino for the Mid-South Poker Classic, adding his classic antics and skills to the series.

"We have been able to attract tremendous draws and substantial prize pools for our major poker tournaments. Oklahoma is definitely a hotbed of poker action right now, and we have been the destination of choice for players," said David Stewart, Cherokee Nation Enterprises CEO.

"We are a convenient, easy-access location for the mid- and southern U.S. regions, and the prize pools make it worth your while."

The tournaments will include No-Limit Hold'em, Limit Hold'em, Omaha, Jack & Jill, Seniors and Ladies events with buy-ins ranging from $100 to $1,000. The Budweiser Celebrity Poker Classic will have a buy-in of $120.
