The Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters of Los Angeles (JBBBSLA) is hosting a No-Limit Texas Hold'em tournament Sept. 7 as a fundraiser for the organization. "A Full House" will take place at the Hollywood Park Casino and includes dinner and poker lessons before the tournament begins.
Participants can buy-in to the tournament for $200 for the chance to with the first place prize of a $10,000 buy-in for a World Poker Tour event or $5,000 in cash. The top ten finishers will also receive cash prizes and have a chance to win a car in the "royal flush giveaway."
"The poker tournament is an opportunity to give back to the mentors, board members and friends of the agency that are supportive of our programs throughout the year," said Margy Feldman, JBBBSLA CEO. "While this is a fun way to raise money for the underprivileged children we serve, it is also a great opportunity for the players to network and make friends with a diverse group of like-minded Los Angelenos. With this year's exciting grand prize, players just may have a chance to talk cards with a future poker champion."
JJBBBSLA was founded in 1915 to help mentor children by setting up a core matching program to pair up children with an adult mentor. It also runs a residential summer camp for almost 1,000 inner-city children, and also has a scholarship program for children. The organization's programs benefit approximately 1,800 children every year.
