A number of celebrities are set to descend on Dearborn, Michigan, on Thursday, February 2, for a charity Texas Hold'em tournament hosted at the local Ritz Carlton by pro player and "Celebrity Poker Showdown" co-host, Phil Gordon, it has been revealed. The 10 Agency, a New York-based super agency specializing in television, radio, and print advertisements, among other things, is producing the event to benefit the Cancer Research and Prevention Foundation (CRPF) and the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign.
"One Night in Havana," as the event is being called, will enable local poker players to compete alongside a slew of high-profile celebrity guests, including Adam Sandler, Joey Fatone, Ja Rule, Morris Chestnut, Chicago Bears running back Thomas Jones, and former Lion Herman Moore. According to Shane Giordano, a representative of The 10 Agency, the beauty of the "One Night in Havana" experience lies in the fact that, "Instead of just watching the celebrities play, you'll actually get to play in the tournament with the celebs."
The event is set to boast fine cigars, cocktails, and dining. A cigar room is being constructed specially for the evening, as the Ritz Carlton is a non-smoking venue. Limited spectator seating and gaming will also be available.
Winning players will receive prizes such as watches and vacations, with all funds generated through gaming donated to the CRPF and the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign. "One Night in Havana" will also hold a charity auction.
