Celebrities to play poker for charity in U.K.
By Sarah Polson
Several celebrities are planning to be dealt into a charity poker game in London that will raise money for the Shane Warne Foundation and Zac Goldsmith's Ecology Trust. Players paid £10,000 each to participate, and the event is expected to raise £300,000 for the charities.
Celebrities such as Madonna, Hugh Grant, and Trudie Styler, the wife of singer Sting, are already expected to attend. Tom Parker Bowles, Camilla's son, as well as soccer player Teddy Sheringham, are also expected to attend.
The Shane Warne Foundation works to benefit children in need by raising money and awareness for organizations that work with seriously ill and underprivileged children. Goldsmith's Ecology Trust distributes funds to environmental charities.
The fundraiser was organized by Goldsmith, a prominent London socialite, as well as Shane Warne, an Australian cricket player. In his blog, Warne mentioned that BGC Partners LP, a brokerage firm, will also be the premier sponsors for the event.
