'Casino Royale' villain tops Danish Hold'em tournament
By Erin Warner
The good guy doesn't always win. Actor Mads Mikkelsen, who plays the creepy villain Le Chiffre in the latest James Bond film "Casino Royale," took first place at a poker tournament last week.
At the BET24 tournament in his native Denmark, Mikkelson took down local poker pro Theo Jorgensen by calling his all-in raise.
In a bizarre coincidence, the Danish movie star nailed down the win with a pair of jacks - the same pair of cards that trounced Bond's hand in the film.
The movie's plot, based on the Ian Fleming novel about British spy James Bond, includes a high-stakes Texas Hold'em poker scene. Bond competes in the game while bankrolled by the British government.
Mikkelsen has received excellent reviews for his portrayal of La Chiffre, and evil terrorist backer who meets Bond at the felt.
