Cards are on the tables at the PokerStars.com Caribbean Adventure
By Erin Warner
These people aren't in the Bahamas for the beach. With the action well underway at the PokerStars.com Caribbean Adventure, the place to be is at the tournament table.
Play began today at noon, with a rumored 1,000 entrants including pros such as Joe Hachem, Chris Moneymaker and Antonio Esfandiari.
The fourth-annual event runs until Jan. 11 at the Atlantis Resort and Casino in the Bahamas.
The World Poker Tour championship tournament has a $8,000 buy-in and promises a big payday to the winner as last year's victor, Steve Paul-Ambrose flew home with more than $1 million after qualifying in a PokerStars.com satellite.
Also on the island are the 27 players competing in the PokerStars.com Moneymaker Millionaire, the world's largest free poker tournament. Three nine-person tables will run tomorrow for the $2.5 million event.
