Cantu, Jacob fall short in WSOP donkament

Both Brandon Cantu and Alex Jacob had ample opportunity to wrap up a bracelet in the $1,500 donkament on Monday night.

In the end, however, it was Ray Foley who emerged victorious in Event 39, the latest $1.5k NLHE affair.

Foley defeated Cantu to earn his first Michael Binger, Yuval Bronshtein and Andy Black.

The field will return at 2 p.m. Tuesday and play down to a champion.

Event 43 - $1,000 Seniors No Limit Hold'em

A total of 2,707 players "of a certain age" (that's 50-plus) ponied up the thousand bucks to take part in the Seniors Event, creating a prize pool worth $2,463,700.

By day's end only 402 players remained, including chipleader Chuck Simon, Berry Johnston and Barbara Enright.

Action resumes at 2 p.m. Tuesday for Day 2.

Event 44 - $2,500 Razz

Three-hundred and fifteen players bought in to the $2,500 Razz event and by the end of Day 1 a total of 122 were left standing.

Ville Wahlbeck and John Juanda hold the big stacks, with Daniel Negreanu, Chris "Jesus" Ferguson and blogger Mickey "The Hickey" Doft also making it through.

The field will return at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
