One of the greatest football players of all time is now a member of Team PokerStars SportStars.

Brazilian football legend Ronaldo Nazário has officially signed on as a PokerStars ambassador as announced yesterday via the PokerStars Latin America blog.

The leading scorer in the history of the World Cup, a two-time world champion with the Brazilian national team and voted best player in the world by FIFA three times, Ronaldo brings a legacy of greatness to the poker table.

"I always try to deliver my best in everything, in football and in life," Ronaldo told the PokerStars blog.

"Poker is another challenge that excites me: read the game and opponents and choose the best way to win. For some time I have been discovering the game of poker and I chose PokerStars because they bring together a community passionate about the sport.

"It also has a great team of players."

Jose del Pino, director for Latin America at PokerStars, says adding Ronaldo to a team that already includes Rafael Nadal, Boris Becker and Fatima Moreira de Melo is a natural fit.

"Ronaldo symbolizes the values we seek in poker: genius, talent, dedication and the fiber you find in the great champions of the sport.

"Having Ronaldo as brand ambassador makes us proud and excited about the opportunity to help you improve your gaming skills."

Since retiring from football Ronaldo has worked primarily with his own sport entertainment agency, 9ine, which recently signed PokerStars pro Andre Akkari to its roster.
