Bradpiece takes leg two of U.K. Poker Tour

By: Christopher Hunt

Online qualifier Jerome Bradpiece took down the sold-out second leg of the Grosvenor U.K. Poker Tour (GUKPT) in Walsall over the weekend, taking £121,600 and his biggest poker payout ever.

The so-far successful GUKPT wrapped up leg two of a planned 11 in 2007 with a big pay day for Bradpiece, a 23-year-old from London who turned pro only eight months ago.

All 360 seats were sold-out with a host of heavy hitters in the field, including Pete "The Bandit" Evans, who famously finished second to Dave "Devilfish" Ulliott in the first series of Late Night Poker, and the Hendon Mob's Joe Beevers.

But it was the surprising Bradpiece taking a huge chip lead into the final and making it stand up, watching the more renowned Beevers drop in seventh and taking fellow online qualifier Billy Ngo out for the title in only three heads-up hands.

The next leg of the £1,000 No-Limit Hold'em poker series goes Mar. 22-25 in Cardiff, and the grand finale, which Bradpiece has now earned a seat in, is planned for London in November.

Each leg is also being filmed for broadcast on Channel 4 later in the year.
