Brad Booth Charity Tournament announced

When it comes to making all-in decisions some are incredibly difficult while others are remarkably easy.

The Brad Booth All-In for Arthritis Charity Classic is definitely one of the latter. Headed up by famed poker player Brad "Yukon" Booth the event promises to be a premier fundraiser for a condition that afflicts millions worldwide.

"I'm really excited about being part of this event," said Booth. "This is now the second year that I have done the All-In for Arthritis Tournament and it's looking like with every year that goes by we are gaining more and more support for this great charity event. I'd like to thank the Arthritis Society for inviting me back to host the event this year and also our host casino, The River Cree Resort & Casino in Edmonton."

In spring of 2006, The Arthritis Society partnered with the BC Gaming Commission to pilot a poker tournament hosted by Brad Booth. The Gaming Commission mandated that for the pilot the maximum revenue would be $2,500. The prize money would be split 50/50 between the Arthritis Society and the winners. The event was a success and a good portion of the winners just donated their winnings back to the TAS.

This year promises to be even better and will include an entire week of poker events. There will be a total of four events with a $1,500+$100 main event that will conclude the action. The proceeds will help support the TAS in both British Columbia and Alberta.

It's a great opportunity to give to charity. And getting to play alongside the likes of Booth and other skilled poker players is part of what made the event so successful last year.

"It was like being invited to a golf game with Mike Weir and Tiger Woods," said Pamela Gore, director of external relations for TAS BC and Yukon Division.

The value of helping the TAS was not lost on Booth, who has been featured on the covers of various poker magazines and made appearances on television programs like High Stakes Poker.

"While support for arthritis is important, this event is even more special because it is bringing awareness to and funds to youth arthritis," he said. "This is a disease that most people don't think about [or] associate with children. We, as a people are always talking about supporting good causes and giving something back to humanity. Well this is your chance to actually put your plans in motion and do so. And you get to play cards as well!"

There will also be super-satellites held at the Edgewater Casino that will allow players the chance to win their way into the big charity game.
