Riley Books, a book company that publishes on Baja, Mexico, has announced its sponsorship of poker pro Scott Neuman in the upcoming World Poker Tour (WPT) Borgata Winter Open at the Borgata Casino & Spa in Atlantic City, NJ, on January 21, 2006. The firm apparently contacted Neuman after he launched an eBay search for a sponsor to help him enter two events in the newly added WPT series.
According to Neuman, "Riley Books is looking to show the world their expertise on the Baja. They publish many books on the Baja and they know that a large percentage of poker players live on the west coast and might have an interest in the Baja. In addition...I am also a member of the Lakewood Rotary Club of Lakewood, NJ. Rileybooks.com understands that 5% of my total winnings will be donated to my local Rotary International Club."
Representatives of Riley Books also expressed pleasure with the new agreement: "This is a win-win situation for us. Scott Neuman is an accomplished poker player and has done well at many large events...We thought this was a unique opportunity to advertise with him at the 1st Annual Borgata Winter Classic...and to make a charitable donation to the local Rotary International Club based on his play. Some of the funds will be earmarked for Hurricane Katrina victims."
Neuman has made 28 final tables in the last two years (both online and land-based), including the World Series of Poker Circuit event in Atlantic City, NJ, and the Big Smoke High Stakes No-Limit Hold'em event at the Borgata.
