Bodog.com takes on Mixed Martial Arts TV show
By Sarah Polson
Filming has begun for Bodog.com founder and CEO Calvin Ayre's latest project, "BodogFight." Bodog.TV is producing this Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) show which will bring together nearly two dozen American fighters to battle for a spot on a U.S. team that will eventually square off against fighters from the Russian Red Devil Sports Club.
The series will document the search for the toughest, most ruthless MMA athletes the United States has to offer. Once selected, they'll be taken to Costa Rica to compete for a spot on the American team.
Fight fans who tune in for each one-hour episode will get an inside look at the lives of MMA athletes, their personalities, the traditions of the sport, training regimens and more. Seven of the episodes will feature elimination battles, behind-the-scenes training, interviews with fighters, and lifestyle segments.
Viewers will also get a peak at the secret training regimen of the elite Russian squad led by world heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko.
"BodogFight is another example of how we are becoming a dominating force in mainstream digital entertainment," said Ayre. "With the immense popularity surrounding MMA as a sport, hosting and producing our own world-class sporting event marks the next step in the evolution of our entertainment brand. Bodog.TV has evolved into an international TV production powerhouse."
The first episode of the series will air Sept. 12 on the Men's Network, a Dish Network satellite channel, and online at Bodog.TV. The final United States vs. Russia match will take place in Los Angeles Nov. 4 and be broadcast live on pay-per-view.
