Bodog hands out 2009 Main Event seats
By Sarah Polson
It's never too soon to start thinking about the next World Series of Poker. That must be Bodog Poker's philosophy, anyway: the site has already awarded players seats to the 2009 WSOP Main Event.
Bodog Poker hosted a Mini Series this year, a 25-tournament series that mirrored the Hold'em events at the 2008 WSOP with buy-ins equal to 1% of the actual WSOP event buy-in.
The final event was a 27-player tournament consisting of the top four players on the Mini Series tournament leaderboard, 18 players from the semifinal qualifier and five selected through wild-card drawings of players who entered at least three Mini Series events.
The final table took place July 10, and when all the cards were dealt, the top three players had earned $12,000 VIP Prize Packages to the 2009 Main Event.
The 2008 Main Event isn't even decided yet, but pokerfanx789, dudix and Boswan know they'll be heading to Las Vegas next year for their shot at the title. The rest of the final nine players in the tournament received T$109.
"Team Bodog players had an amazing run at this year's series in Las Vegas, and we're already gearing up for next summer by awarding three seats to the 2009 Main Event," said Morris Mohawk Gaming Group CEO Alwyn Morris.
"The three winners of our Bodog Poker Mini Series are guaranteed an experience like no other in Las Vegas as they compete for a shot at poker stardom and millions of dollars."
The Bodog Poker Mini Series paid out $107,000 in prize money through events that ranged in buy-in from $10+$1 to $100+$9. According to Bodog Poker, it offered exceptional value for players of all skill levels.
Bodog Poker has plenty of other tournaments and promotions for its players as well. Not only did it send a number of players to the 2008 WSOP, with plans to send more next year, poker players can win their way to the WSOP Europe as well as to events all around the world at the poker site.
