Bodog begins WSOPE qualifiers

The European version of the World Series of Poker is fast approaching and once again Bodog Poker will be offering some impressive packages to get there.

Online qualifiers run daily on with buy-ins as low as $1. It's all leading up to the Two Seats Guaranteed World Series of Poker Europe semifinal on Sept. 7.

Players will be competing for a package that includes a seat at the championship event, round trip airfare, high-end car service, luxury hotel accommodations, spending money and exclusive Team Bodog clothing and gear. Each VIP prize package is valued at over $24,000.

"We're excited to award our online qualifiers a prize package that allows them to live it up in London like they've already struck it rich, even before the first cards are dealt," said Morris Mohawk Gaming Group CEO Alwyn Morris.

"We had an incredible run at last year's tournament, with one of our online qualifiers, Matt McCullough, finishing third, and we're hoping to see Bodog back at the final table again - this time taking home the bracelet."

The aforementioned McCullough fought his way through 620 players to become the last U.S. player standing. Finally McCullough was eliminated in third when eventual runner-up John Tabatabai sucked out and hit a lucky ace on the river. McCullough earned a cool $766,674 for coming in third.

Of course it was the young online prodigy Annette Obrestad who eventually won the tournament title and the $2 million that came with it.

The 2008 WSOPE Main Event will take place Sept. 27-Oct. 2 in London, England. Starting this year, the six-day tournament will be televised by ESPN in North America.
