After being around the world series for a couple of years I've started to collect a list of what I'd like to see happen. Here's some headlines I'd like to see this summer:
Woman Wins Bracelet
I'm not talking about the women's event either (duh). With talented players like Joseph Hachem or even Jamie Gold comes from no where to become a poker star. But I think this year it's time for a change. I'd honestly like to see a big name player win it. Why not give a little exposure to the people that make a living doing this. Last year Allen Cunningham came very close to getting his own World Championship bracelet but came up short. Perhaps this year another poker pro can finish the job.
Alex Jacob's Fro Getting Some Kind of Award
You have to get something for having the greatest hair in all of poker.
Return of the Poker Rooms
A Revamped Schedule
Probably won't happen this year, but does it seem a bit crazy to anybody else that there are sometimes six events going on at the same time with up to three final tables? It gets a bit hard to follow when Daniel Negreanu is playing in at least three of the six events.
Sequestered Tent Getting the Boot
Speaking of good ideas, how cool was it to have Phil Hellmuth win his 11th bracelet with no one watching. The final table "tent" has done a great job of taking all the excitement out of an event. Where are the friends and family screaming and yelling? Where are the boo-birds? Where's the fun? Every year the goal is to promote the game of poker and create a better atmosphere for spectators. How does having no spectators at all accomplish anything. Maybe they should just make the entire tournament online only and have people watch that.
What do people want to see at the WSOP? How about the WSOP!
