First off, it is possible for a poker tournament to have too many names and this Greg Mueller, Ralph Perry and Amir Vahedi are all hovering around $100,000. The majority of five levels were played and we can expect the same from Day 1b.
On a side note, with the Fontana Room closed for renovations, the tournament was held both in and just outside the famed Bellagio poker room. Those of you in the know will surely know this is where the biggest cash games in the world play out. There were some big names on the tournament docket today, true, but it was also interesting to see a few who had passed on the action. Doyle Brunson, Barry Greenstein, Gus Hansen, Eli Elezra and Phil Ivey could all be found in their usual seats in the Big Game behind the glass doors in Bobby's Room. Hopefully we'll see them - and you - on Day 1b of the Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic (take a breath now) starting tomorrow at noon (PST) right here on PokerListings.com.
