A Kids Game The Story of Online Poker Bluefire Poker Training Mozilla Firefox 312011 113310 AM

**Update: This movie is now available to view for free here**

Bluefire Poker was nice enough to give us a look at their new poker documentary A Kid’s Game: The Story of Online Poker this week.

So we put the Jiffy-Pop on the stove, sat down on the coach, and opened up our laptops to play online poker, looking up from time to time. That’s just how we watch TV.

We just finished watching episode 3 of The Micros and we've got it embedded for you right here.

We're still enjoying this show but the waiting time to watching time ratio is way off. Ten minutes of viewing every month just isn't getting it done for us.

The newest episode is good though, with a cameo by Tatjana Pasalic as you can tell by the video player above, and plenty of insider 2p2-oriented poker jokes.

Check it out and tell us what you think in the comments section below.

Also, you can get up to speed by watching the last episode right here.

power 20 collage

A few months ago we got the email from Bluff Magazine asking us to participate in the voting process for the 2011 "Power 20".

Even though Bluff could have saved themselves a lot of time by just publishing our ballot as the final list, they brought in 101 voters, including online operators, land-based operators, agents and media.

A total of 195 different people received votes but, like some sort of Highlander for underachievers, there could be only 20!

We've got the final list below. Let us know what you think in the comment section at the bottom of the page.

ali cheater

It was reported today on a German poker site that alleged cheater Ali Tekintamgac has filed a lawsuit against the Partouche Poker Tour for his disqualification from the PPT main event final table last November.

Tekintamgac is asking for 1.5 million Euros, which his lawyer has explained as representing the 1.3 million Euro first-place prize plus 200k in damages.

It's going to be interesting to see how this unfolds but one thing is for sure, if he wins this lawsuit we're going to throw up on our keyboards.

We're always on the lookout for ways to feed our degenerate need for poker action and access to poker on our mobile device pretty much tops the list.

We had high hopes for Windows 7 phones but since they still haven't implemented Flash our dreams of playing real money in-browser online poker have been put on hiatus.

In this week's installment of Gimmick we're looking at the next best thing: Play-money poker on Windows 7 phones. And for the XBox Live crowd there's a special bonus that goes along with this game.

wpt celebrity collage JPG

We just received the list of celebs that the WPT has assembled for its Celebrity Invitational this weekend in LA and it's looking pretty decent.

In our experience the WPT usually kicks off the tournament with a few hours of open bar on the patio of the Commerce Casino. It's an evening start and the mood is jubilant to say the least.

This year they've announced that they'll be live streaming the red carpet, as well as the tournament itself. We're not sure exactly what they'll be streaming but you can check it out right here. It starts Saturday night at 7pm PST.

Check out the full list of celebs that are supposed to show up.

Everyone remembers Prahlad Friedman's groundbreaking 2006 performance, sophisticatingly titled "Poker is Fun". Birthing poker lexicon mainstays like "practicing avoidance", Friedman ensured his inclusion in WSOP Main Event broadcast for years to come.

Now he's back with another installment, silencing the haters after his recent union with Team UB. Or is he?

There's a pretty good 100% chance this is not Friedman but we'd still rather believe it's Spirit Rock himself, mainly because it's so much better than the real thing.

Poker songs are hit or miss. This one's a hit.

The long-awaited second episode of The Micros is out and we've got it embedded right here for your viewing enjoyment.

We got some real laughs out of the debut episode and naturally we were a little worried about it being a flash in the pan. Having watched the second episode we can tell you that's not the case.

Watch and tell us what you think below.

Poker is pretty high on the list of typically American things, right up there with freedom, apple pie and an unflinching commitment to television programming.

That's why our friend Short-Stacked Shamus over at Hard-Boiled Poker has put together an American Studies course at UNC-Charlotte covering poker's role in American culture.

We spoke with Shamus last week about what we can expect from the course and quickly realized that this is indeed an expansive topic, and certainly one worthy of academic exploration.

Read on for the key points plus a look at the course material Shamus will be using with his students.

We're always interested when poker gets attention in the mainstream media, especially when its being defended as a game of skill.

Michelle Minton ran this article in the Washington Post yesterday doing exactly that.

YouTube The Micros Episode 1 Pilot Mozilla Firefox 1102011 11640 PM

It's been about a month and a half since Krantz and JimmyLegs released the pilot episode of their new animated poker comedy The Micros.

Since then we've been waiting for the second and we've just heard that the wait is almost over. If you haven't seen the first episode we strongly suggest you take the paltry seven and a half minutes needed to check it out.

Follow this link to watch it on Youtube.

Low-budget cartoons have been the vehicle for some of the funniest stuff in comedic history and today's technology has made the format even more accessible.

We had high expectations when we heard about this project and the pilot didn't disappoint us. While it's certainly funnier to a poker audience, and funniest to a 2p2 audience, this show has a real chance at attracting a more mainstream audience.

Check back here for a link to episode 2 when it comes out or become a fan of The Micros on facebook.

People love to see Phil Hellmuth get unlucky; it's one of the basic principles of his popularity.

When he was on the PokerStars Big Game he got seriously unlucky against loose cannon Ernest Wiggins, losing a boatload of cash despite getting it in about as good you possibly can.

Daniel Negreanu was at the table when it happened so we decided to get Negreanu and Hellmuth in front of the camera to tell us all about it.

As usual 2p2 is breaking stories like no one else. A massive thread kicked off a few days ago with a post from Matt Savage about the high-stakes side games going down at the APT event in Macau this week.

Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan and the rest of the big-game posse are playing the highest stakes ever played in Macau, 50,000/100,000 HKD!!!!!!1

The PokerStars.net Big Game Episodes Houston we have lift off Mozilla Firefox 10262010 103629 AM

The last few episodes of the PokerStars Big Game have sparked an explosive discussion in the poker world and, not surprisingly, it was Tony G’s big mouth that lit the fuse.

The issue on the table has to do with etiquette and respect, and how those two things fit into an entertainment television show like The Big Game.

Krantz and Ryan Firpo, the guys who brought you Busto to Robusto 1 and 2, are teaming up with Taylor "Green Plastic" Caby in an attempt to produce the definitive poker documentary.

This is music to our ears since the first Robusto is an awesome look at online poker, especially for the layperson.

People love novelty, a fact that hasn’t been lost on poker room operators. Full Tilt came up with the first really successful “gimmick” variant with Rush Poker and now Party Poker has decided to throw its hat into that ring with the introduction of Double Hold’em.

Similar to Rush Poker, Double Hold’em seeks to up the action, and presumably the rake, by giving players more chances to make hands and more reason to get money into the pot.

David "Devilfish" Ulliott is a true old-school London hustler. He's seen it all and he's not afraid to talk about it.

We sat down with him on the patio at the Icon bar in Leicester Square and asked him to tell us a few stories about what it was like mixing crime and poker all those years ago. He didn't disappoint.

Listen to to him talk about doing robberies to pay for poker games and winning apartments only to use them for shagging women

He's got a new book out that's jammed full of old-school London tales. You can find that book right here.

He finally did it. Everyone who knew him told him the world wasn't ready and he did it anyway.

Chris Olaafson has indulged his personal fantasy of widespread acclaim and recognition by producing a documentary about himself.

We first met Olaafson in a dive bar in Prague where he had brought his own velvet rope and cordoned off the raised portion of tables above the dance floor, proclaiming it the VIP section and ordering 128 rum and cokes for his entourage.

We tried to tell him that the bar had run out of rum and was, in actuality, charging him the equivalent of $10 USD per cup of coca-cola. And it wasn't even name brand Coca-Cola, it was some cheap Czech rip-off.

I don't think he understood us because he kept repeating words like "Sick" and "Impossible call". We got pretty messed up that night and went to Darlings.

Pokerstars has released the numbers for the next World Championship of Online Poker and they are spectacular! $50 million is guaranteed across 62 MTTs and it all kicks off September 5th.

$50 million is a lot of money. It's so much money, in fact, that most people have a hard time conceptualizing it.
