Something Has to Change
Created By: Jason Mercier Posted in: Jason Mercier Poker Blog, Tournament Trail
I can't keep living like this. I'm sitting here on the side of the road 2 miles away from my place in Florida because I just got a flat tire.
I was on my way to a 24 hour walk-in clinic because I have been sick for the last week and haven't been getting any better.
This is probably the 6th or 7th time that I have been sick in the last 12 months. I don't know if it's my diet, lack of exercise, irregular sleep schedule, constant travelling, or a combo of a few or all of these things.
Either way, something has to change, I refuse to let myself continually get sick.
Is it sad that I don't know how to change a tire? I'm waiting for triple A sigh! Should probably take like an hour ugh!
As far as poker goes, I played only 4 tourneys today on stars. I cashed in 1 tourney... The early 100 rebuy. 83k to first, I got 13th... Pretty miserable.
I'm supposed to get on a flight to Biloxi in 7.5 hours, but I'm definitely skipping it. I'll just go there when I feel a bit better. I think I'm gonna start taking a multivitamin and also start drinking orange juice everyday.
I need to get healthy asap.

2010-01-21Jason, as a fellow player from South Florida I can relate to what you've been going through this year. I've been dealing with the exact same thing. As you know the weather has been absolutely crazy here lately. It's actually been off since Fall of last year. It was really hot late into the year then colder that it's been in decades through most of January. Now it's warm again. Those changes, mixed with all the germs in the cardrooms and lots of travel and your screwed.
The good thing is you just won the 1k in Biloxi. I would say even if you are sick, you're still "clicking" bud. Nice job.
Would love to play with you sometime soon...just found out we're apparently family as well! You can ask Pat & John who I am. Lol. No joke. Take care Jason.

2010-01-19Jason, keep putting your hands near your mouth after you and everyone in the tourney touches those chips, themselves, the cards, they dont wash their hands when they leave the bathroom, etc..... This is why you should never touch your mouth, nose, and eyes at the poker table.
Look at the pic of yourself above....hands to lips....yeah I am shocked you keep getting sick.

2010-01-18Sitting in air conditioned rooms all day everyday is not good either. Dress a bit warmer if you are gonna play cards all day

2010-01-18Steve,
You can turn off the auto correct function of the phone. Which is good, since it messes you up 90% of the time.

2010-01-18Wow that's a lot of iphone writing. How many times did you have to correct the auto correct.

2010-01-18sleep is the key. Get to bed by 10pm up at 6am and you won't get sick. It's what your body needs so don't try and fight it.
You gotta eat well too.
Pretty simple stuff.
