The 40,000$ NL event drew 201 players. A month ago, I had thought there was going to be about 260, but then yesterday at around noon there was about 130 signed up. So I was surprised that they got over 200 actually.
Everyone started the day with 120,000 in chips and the blinds started at 200/400 with a 50 ante. I actually really enjoyed the structure yesterday.
I feel like I play better the deeper I am in a tournament, and this structure makes you feel like it was a 1200 player field and you are down to the final 200.
I had a pretty steady day, only being involved in two all ins, both of which I won. AA vs QQ and I held, and AK vs KK and I sucked out. Running pure, son! Neither of those pots were for my tourney life and both times were versus short stacks.
There are 89 players that made it to day 2. I looked at the names of these players. There are maybe like 10 that I don't know who they are.
But, keep in mind, just because I know who someone is, does not mean I think they are good. Although most of the players that are left are going to be extremely tough opponents.
I didn't really get a good night's sleep last night. Went to bed around 3 am and was wide awake at like 8:45. Laid in bed for like 90 minutes unable to fall back asleep.
I'll be ready to rock and roll today though. Looking for a big Day 2, I think we play down to the money today (27 get paid). You can keep up with the action in the live updates section.
WSOP one time?
