Binion's Horseshoe to host Poker Classic event in the fall of 2006

By Lianne Elias

Binion's Horseshoe Gambling Hall and Hotel has announced the establishment of Binion's Poker Classic, a tournament event expected to boast some of the world's best poker players.

The famed home of the World Series of Poker, Binion's management is expecting the tournament to officially put Binion's back on the international poker tournament circuit, as well as revitalize the downtown sector of Las Vegas.

Specific details regarding the tournament, including dates, number of events and entries, buy-ins, and prize pools will be announced by August 1.

Binion's was bought by Harrah's Entertainment in 2004, along with the World Series of Poker, which was played out over the course of seven weeks this past June and July at the Rio All Suites Hotel and Casino. The last last two days of the $10,000 No-Limit Texas Hold'em Main Event, however, were played at Binion's on July 14 and 15.
