Billionaire bombs at charity poker tournament

By Sarah Polson

It just goes to show that money can't buy everything. Billionaire Warren Buffett couldn't even survive the first 45 minutes of a charity poker tournament Thursday evening to benefit the Nebraska Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Buffett confessed the game was much different than his preferred game of bridge, but that didn't keep him from sitting down with more than 50 other amateurs, celebrities and pro players for a Texas Hold'em tournament to raise money for the foundation.

The fundraiser was part of a the celebration of the $5 million renovation of Borsheims, a jewelry store in Omaha, Neb., owned by Buffett's company Berkshire Hathaway.

Players came out to show their support and try to win a $3,500 watch featured in the new James Bond movie.

In attendance were Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps as well as pro poker players David Williams, Evelyn Ng and Michael Mizrachi. Despite the pro turnout, the watch was won by an amateur playing from Omaha.
