Bill too much for Greenstein at Heads-Up Poker Championship
After three days of play and 64 players butting heads, a champion has finally emerged from the World Heads-Up Poker Championship at the Crystal Casino this week. William "Bill" Edler was the big winner after facing down Barry Greenstein.
In his quest to become heads-up champion, Edler faced More Eskandani and Kristy Gazes in the first couple rounds of play. Then he beat Brad "Yukon" Booth in the quarter finals.
The semi-final round saw him go up against Jose Tavares, taking him into the final table where he faced poker legend Barry Greenstein.
Greenstein also went up against some pretty stiff competition to make his way to the final.
In the early rounds he took on Trish LeBlanc and Patrik Antonius. Dustin Woolf was his opponent in the quarter finals, which he passed to come up against the 2006 Player of the Year Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi.
In the end, Edler was able to topple "The Robin Hood of Poker" in a best of three final to take home the $215,000 top prize.
Greenstein earned $107,500 as the runner up, and Mizrachi and Tavares each received $53,750 for their semi-final finish.
