Big Names Stacked Behind Hall at WPT Championship

Galen Hall
2011 PCA Champ Galen Hall

2011 PCA Main Event champ Galen Hall has grabbed the chip lead with 15 players left at the $25k WPT World Championship, but there's no shortage of big names breathing down his neck.

Despite a decent lead - Hall's the only player over $3m in chips and about 700k ahead of his nearest competitor, Sam El Sayed - Hall will need to be at the top of his game to make the final six as several well known vets are chasing.

Among them:

Reigning WPT World Champion David Williams, multiple WSOP bracelet winner Daniel Alaei and feared online and live grinders Scott Seiver, Shannon Shorr, Ashton Griffin, Nenad Medic, Justin Young, Freddy Bonyadi and Will "the Thrill" Failla.

If that wasn't enough, there's also 22-year-old WSOP bracelet winner Steven Kelly and NAPT LA $5k Heads-up winner David Peters.

Said Hall, in his end of the day video interview with WPT host Kimberley Lansing:

"There's a lot of really good players at my table right now. It's, like, ridiculous.

"I mean if we all started with like even stacks and just played a sit-and-go, there's no way I'd be +EV at that table.

"Half the table is significantly better than me probably, especially on deep stacks, but now I have a big chip stack so the thing I do really well is just apply tons and tons of pressure to people."

Play resumes today at the Bellagio and will continue until the final televised table is set.
