Betfair Poker offers passports to anywhere
By Sarah Polson
Usually when you enter an online satellite tournament, you already know what poker tournament you'll be winning your way into if you win. With Betfair Poker's new "Passport Stamps" satellites, poker players will have a lot more options for their satellite wins.
Each Passport Stamp is worth $3,000, which can be used to buy into local tournaments, or players can accumulate them to challenge for higher buy-in events like the World Series of Poker.
Players also have the flexibility of choosing how the value of their stamps is spent. All of it can go toward the buy-in of a tournament or it can be split up to be used for the costs of travel and accommodations as well.
"This satellite structure puts our customers in the driving seat," said Ben Fried, Betfair Poker's head of poker. "The Passports, combined with the Threedom Pass, give our live event offering the best value and flexibility in the industry."
Betfair Poker will continue to offer traditional satellites to live events as well, and the new Passport Stamp satellites will take place weekly.
The weekly satellite takes place each Sunday at 9:45 p.m. and has a $150+$15 buy-in. Turbo satellites with a lower buy-in run daily to win your way into the weekly satellite as well.
At 6:25 p.m. each day, there will be a $5.50 turbo satellite which will get players entry into a $20+$2 turbo satellite that runs daily at 8:10 p.m.
The winners of the $20+$2 turbo satellites gains entry into the weekly satellite.
