Ivey scores another $1 million

By: Arthur Crowson

You can't stop him. You can only hope to contain him.

That might be the statement that best describes cash-game stalwart Phil Ivey, who after years of playing the best poker players in the world is still the guy to beat.

Ivey started 2009 very much in the hole, somewhat similarly to Tom "durrrr" Dwan, but has already dug himself out.

Ivey had a massive session yesterday with over $1 million going into his online coffers. The majority of his profits came against Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies and Tom "durrrr" Dwan.

In the biggest hand of the session Ivey rivered a straight against Ziigmund. Ivey showed his cards, and Ziigmund could only muck his hand as the $227,958 pot was shipped to the Full Tilt pro.

Ziigmund also lost some huge pots against durrrr, and by the end of the day had racked up some of the worst losses of his career. Some insiders peg his total deficit at a staggering $2 million.

For those who follow the high-stakes online scene closely, it's worth noting that the durrrr Challenge is still on hiatus. It's been four days since session 5, and suffice it to say that railbirds are starting to get a little restless.
