Bergstrom, Spindler Top EPT London Day 4
Swedish pro Mattias Bergstrom narrowly edged Adria Balaguer to snag the overnight chip lead on Day 4 of the EPT London main event.
With just 24 players left, Bergstrom has amassed a stack of 1.83 million chips while Balaguer is close behind with 1.82 million.
Bergstrom is relatively unknown in the poker world but he did place fifth in the 2007 Poker SKr in Stockholm for $38k.
Although famous pros such as Doyle Brunson and Barry Greenstein have long since taken their leave of the tournament, there are several notable players with chips in London.
German shark Benny Spindler is in the top 10 chip counts with 1.4 million as is former Irish Poker Open winner James Mitchell who finished with 1.3 million.
Spindler, who finished third at the 2009 PCA for $1.1 million, is having an impressive year with over $800k in profit on PokerStars this year.
Joao Barbosa, Steve O’Dwyer, Juan Manuel Pastor and Viktor "Isildur1" Blom’s brother Sebastian Blom all booked a seat in Day 5 as well.
Former stock trader Martins Adeniya also made it into Day 5 with over a million chips. Check our interview with Adeniya to learn more.
Pastor is the last member of Team PokerStars Pro who is still standing after Humberto Brenes, Ana Marquez and Salvatore Bonavena were all sent packing on Day 4.
Some of the other notable players to bust on Day 4 were Roberto Romanello, John Gale, Jamie Rosen and Barny Boatman.
Each of the 24 remaining players is guaranteed at least £16,000 but first place will walk away with £750,000. Click here for a complete rundown of the prize structure.
Action resumes at 12 p.m. local time tomorrow and the goal is to play down to a final table of eight players. Click here for the full end of day counts.
