Bar Poker League feeling Florida for expansion
First Minnesota. Now Florida. Next: Wisconsin, North Dakota and Arizona, with the St. Paul-based World Poker Store set to expand its Bar Poker League operations far and wide in their continued mission to "bring poker to the masses" and support local charities.
A renowned host of Texas Hold'em tournaments in Minnesota, the World Poker Store Inc. launched its Florida Bar Poker League operations last week, with a schedule of over 20 tournaments a week and growing, in the first of five planned regions.
First up: The southwest, and the track-suit and flamingo-heavy locales of Fort Myers, Estero, Naples and Marco Island. Then it's on to central and southeast Florida and two regions in the north, with expansion expected to continue to other states over the coming year.
The purpose: Bringing poker to the masses and supporting local charities.
Known for its celebrity charity events - notably the Trent Tucker Celebrity Poker Tournament hosted annually in Minnesota at Canterbury Park - the World Poker Store Inc. now hosts over 100 free weekly tournaments, including the $200 nightly Bar League events.
They also regularly partner with local charities and corporate groups to host private Texas Hold'em tournaments, with the proceeds benefiting a variety of causes.Bar Poker League expansion is already approved for 24 states, all with World Series of Poker Main Event seats or similar event seats as the planned State Championship prize.Related Articles:
