BadBeatKid_2 wins PokerStars Sunday Million
By Sarah Polson
Thousands of poker players may be in Las Vegas for the 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event, but that didn't stop thousands from showing up at PokerStars for the Sunday Million this week as well.
On Sunday, 7,131 players ponied up the $215 buy-in for the Sunday Million at PokerStars, giving the event more players than the Main Event drew in over its first four days of play.
The end prize isn't nearly as large as what the Main Event players will eventually see, but the Sunday Million, with its $1 million guaranteed prize pool, did promise $175,000 to the winner this week.
That winner turned out to be BadBeatKid_2. He had held the chip lead through the final four tables and turned it into a win.
Despite his lead, however, BadBeatKid_2 chose to make a deal when play got to three-handed. He was holding nearly a 4-1 chip lead on PokerSavage1 and racin77db, and they decided to chop the remaining money, with BadBeatK_2 getting $145,000, PokerSavage1 earning $103,000 and racin77db earning $100,730, and leaving $30,000 for them to play for to determine a winner.
PokerSavage1 ended up taking out racin77db with pocket aces that held up against racin77db's A-T. Then PokerSavage1 took on BadBeatKid_2 in heads-up play and ended up getting his money all-in with pocket sevens, only to find BadBeatKid_2 holding pocket tens that earned the latter the win.
The final table played out as follows, including the three-way deal:
| Place | Name | Prize |
| 1st | BadBeatKid_2 | $175,000 |
| 2nd | PokerSavage1 | $103,000 |
| 3rd | racin77db | $100,370 |
| 4th | dynoalot | $66,318.30 |
| 5th | GravityPilot | $52,056.30 |
| 6th | etushekki | $37,794.30 |
| 7th | MyMaria44 | $25,671.60 |
| 8th | thugmoneymkr | $17,114.40 |
| 9th | Oderec25 | $11,124.36 |
