Back-to-back WPC wins for Adeeb Harb
For a second year running, Adeeb Harb won the $500,000 No-Limit Hold'em event at the Five Star World Poker Classic. This year, he defeated Ted Lawson heads-up to claim the title and over half a million dollars in prize money.
In 2006, Adeeb Harb battled it out with an even tougher opponent, Barry Greenstein, and walked away with $380,350.
Harb certainly had to fight hard for his 2007 win at the Bellagio as well. Besides Ted Lawson, who recently finished second at the Wynn Classic, experienced and skilled players such as David "Devilfish" Ulliot and Chris Birchby reached the final table.
In total, 294 players entered the $5,000 event, as compared to 203 last year.
When the heads-up match for the title began, Lawson had the chip lead but Harb managed to fight his way back and win the tournament.
In the final hand, Harb called with Jd-Td but found himself at a slight disadvantage against Lawson's Qh-2h.
A jack on the flop, however, made Harb's day. He received $500,163, a Bellagio bracelet, and a seat in the $25,000 World Poker Tour (WPT) Championship for his victory.
