Arieh takes a tumble in Bodog.com heads-up

Josh Arieh

By Erin Warner

It took two tries, but Bodog.com player head2782 called Josh Arieh home on the weekend, ending the pro's nine-match heads-up winning streak.

Arieh had gone unbeaten for nine rounds of the poker room's weekly tournament leaderboard challenge from April 16-22. Though head2782 fell victim to the pro earlier this month, he was nobody's fool the second time around, defeating Arieh to win the $7,000 jackpot.

The win was head2782's second - he took down David Williams at the beginning of March - but the heads-up appearance was the tournament leader's fourth. Still, Arieh was the favorite to win, coming into the match with a 28-13 record.

The top spot on the April tournament leaderboard now belongs to head2782, as does the second-overall position on the yearly leaderboard behind Bodog.com player nevertilt22.

The poker room promotion keeps track of play at the site's online poker tables on a weekly, monthly and yearly basis. The weekly winner gets to play against Arieh, Williams, or Evelyn Ng for a $1,000 prize. Each time the pro wins a match, the prize pool grows.
