Aria Expands $300k Buy-in Super High Roller Bowl to 56 Players
The 2017 Super High Roller Bowl just got bigger.
Thanks to an unexpected amount of interest in the event, organizers at Aria Resort & Casino decided to expand the cap to 56 players, up from the previous 50.
The tournament will now begin with eight tables that start seven-handed.
Adding six players will boost the first-place prize to an estimated $6,000,000 thanks to the rather significant $300,000 buy-in. The overall prize pool will likely hit $16.8m.
Thirty-Five Seats Already Taken
This year Aria held a lottery to determine who got into the prestigious event with 35 spots already locked up.
Antonio Esfandiari, Fedor Holz, Haralabos Voulgaris, Doug Polk, Ben Sulsky and John Juanda are some of the notable players who got in through the lottery.
Meanwhile Daniel Negreanu and Phil Ivey are a couple of the big names who were locked out.
That may change with the addition of six new seats as the Aria now has access to 21 seats. Organizers will release more information about the reserved seats next week.
“Based on the success of last year’s Super High Roller Bowl and the overwhelming interest in this year’s event, ARIA believed it was in our best interest to increase the size of the event by six players,” said ARIA’s Director of Poker Operations Sean McCormack.
The plan going forward is to permanently increase the size of the tournament to 56 players.
