APAT announces U.K. Amateur Poker Championships

The Amateur Poker Association and Tour (APAT) announced this week the premier of its U.K. Amateur Poker Championship that will take place at the Aspers Casino in Newcastle Dec. 2-3.

"We are delighted to be bringing an APAT event to the Northeast," said Tony Kendall, APAT chairman. "Aspers is a fantastic venue, and our players are going to have a wonderful time."

Seats for the £75 buy-in tournament, which is also sponsors by PokerStars.com, are available online at www.apat.com starting Saturday. There are 210 seats available and entry is exclusive to members of the APAT

All players will start the Texas Hold'em tournament with 10,000 in chips and play for an estimated £15,000 prize pool. In addition to the cash prize, the winner will get a Silver Challenge Cup plus a $12,000 2007 World Series of Poker Main Event prize package.
