AOL has free seats for WSOP dreamers

World Series of Poker seats, for free? That's what AOL Games is claiming, with its new offer to award nine 2007 Main Event seats to the winners of a series of online No-Limit Texas Hold'em tournaments.

Starting April 16, AOL's World Series of Poker hub ( is hosting a nine-week event, with nine top players each winning a $10,000 championship seat.

Every week, players compete in free daily qualifying tournaments to earn a seat at a Sunday winner-takes-all final. The prize is the $10,000 entry as well as travel accommodation to the 2007 WSOP Main Event starting July 6 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

Currently AOL is the only officially sanctioned online site to play freerolls for WSOP seats.

"Online poker play's popularity has exploded in recent years," said AOL Games vice-president Ralph Rivera. "Our agreement with Harrah's will provide nine novice poker players with the opportunity of a lifetime to join Poker professionals to possibly win the grand prize purse worth millions."

Also worth noting, is the AOL Games library of free WSOP games, including Texas Hold'em, Omaha and Stud varieties. The site also offers video clips of pro poker players and strategy tips.
