That's not a typo up there. Or an old headline dredged up from the past by a technical glitch.

In a flashback to an earlier time in poker two of the game's biggest names ended up heads-up for the latest WSOP Circuit crown at the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles last night.

On one side of the table was Antonio "the "Magician" Esfandiari - icon of the WPT, High Stakes Poker and winner of the inaugural $1m Big One for One Drop for $18m.

On the other side: 2006 World Series of Poker Main Event champion Jamie Gold - the man who fast-talked and fast-played his way to the biggest payday in WSOP history at $12m.

This time, Gold couldn't quite talk his way to the gold ring as Esfandiari edged him heads-up to win the crown, $226,785 and a spot in the 2016 WSOP Global Championship.

As an added touch and nod to history, though, Gold even held top pair, top kicker - aka "top, top" - on the final hand.

Kenney Sixth, Buffer 11th

With its prime Los Angeles location and $1,675 buy-in this one certainly didn't play like a small event.

Top top can't get him over top.

Of the 756 entrants plenty were of the big-name variety including New York Rounders Manager Bryn Kenney, German/Scottish crusher Ludo Geilich and UFC announcer Bruce Buffer.

All three managed deep runs with Geilich and Kenney each making the final table and Buffer going all the way to 11th.

Hollywood icon James Woods also stepped in to play and finished 30th.

The second-place $139,820 Gold won is his largest poker cash since his 2006 WSOP title, although he did win $120k for a fifth-place finish at the WSOP last summer.
