All roads lead to Jackpot for Irish Poker Open

By Christopher Hunt

Card rooms across Ireland and the U.K. are gearing up for the €2 million guaranteed Irish Poker Open 2007, as initial sites have been announced for live satellites to the Apr. 6-9 main event at the Jackpot Club in Dublin.

Seven hundred players will be ponying-up the €3,300 + €200 to play over Easter weekend at the landmark Burlington Hotel's Jackpot Club, and dozens of leading card rooms are hosting satellites for guaranteed entry starting in January.

Among the rooms presently confirmed: The Jackpot Club itself, Dublin's The Sporting Emporium, Belfast's The Winner's Club, and the Gala Maybury Casino in Edinburgh.

The event will be twice as big this year than last, when Dubliner Vincent Melinn won the €350,000 first prize in only his second ever live tournament.

The final table last year was broadcast live across Europe, with this year's coverage being recorded for television.
