Alaskan politician pushes for legalization of card rooms in the Arctic state
By Lianne Elias
Semi-retired politician Perry Green, aka 'Alaska's Poker Guru,' is continuing his efforts to legalize real money poker playing in the oil-dependant state. Citing poker's current status as a billion dollar industry, Green hopes to bring in millions of dollars in tax revenue along with an increase in employment by legalizing the card game across the state.
Addressing an Anchorage Chamber of Commerce meeting this past Monday, September 29, Green launched yet another pitch to the Anchorage business community, reportedly believing that his campaign has never been closer to realization than it is today.
Green is a well-known poker enthusiast who has competed in the World Series of Poker, and has spent thousands of his own money in his many attempts to pass gaming-related legislation over the past number of years.
