Airline announces direct flights from Las Vegas and Atlantic City

By Erin Warner

Gambling from East to West just got easier with a new nonstop flight between Atlantic City and Las Vegas starting May 3.

Spirit Airlines has added the route to its itinerary and given a boost to the Atlantic City International Airport, which is otherwise served only by Delta Air Lines.

The company made the announcement Thursday and also noted that Spirit would resume a seasonal connecting service through Detroit to Las Vegas May 1.

The new daily flights depart Las Vegas at 6:30 p.m. and leave Atlantic City at 9:15 a.m. Coach fares on the flights start at an introductory price of $79 each way on select days when purchased at spiritair.com by Feb. 28.

"This new direct nonstop flight is exciting news for the Atlantic City market and for the Las Vegas market," said South Jersey Transportation Authority spokesman Bart Mueller. "Pairing these two entertainment and convention cities is a win-win for everyone and underscores the vitality of our region."
