Action Poker also offers a slightly different game variety than most poker rooms, with both multi-player poker and other exotic casino poker versions such as Chinese poker, Big Two poker and Panguingue (Pan) on top of the standard Texas Hold'em, Seven-Card Stud and Omaha.
One drawback is that the stakes are very low and, for those wanting to make serious cash, finding a game that is worth playing can be hard. Real-money player statistics as of May 2012 show 150 ring-game players and 500 tournament players at peak hours.

Action Poker offers a small number of tournaments and the ones they do offer have very small buy-ins. Among the bigger ones are the occasional $10 re-buy and some satellites to larger tournaments that sometimes run as part of a promotion. Action Poker hosts lots of tournaments, with buy-ins as small as 25¢ and some higher buy-in tournaments ranging from $10-$30. The tournaments are sparsely populated, fast and loose. Play at any level tends to be loose, passive and not very tough, and even the bigger buy-in tournaments offer relatively loose play.
Satellites and Guaranteed Tournaments
Action Poker runs very few guaranteed tournaments and satellites. The satellites and guaranteed tournaments that run are often a part of a special promotion and offer good value.
Software and Graphics
Action Poker is the leading site on the Action Poker network and runs on software developed by PlaySafeHoldings AS. The software is updated now and then with some downtime as a result, but looks good and generally runs well.
Statistics
The data and statistics functions in Action Poker's software allow you to take notes on your opposition during play and the lobby supplies vital table statistics like viewed-flop percentage, average pot size, seated player's stack size and hands played per hour. Hand histories are user friendly but take some time to work with; details for hands also expire after 30 days, which is a minus.
Multi-Table
The latest version of Action Poker's software supports play at four tables simultaneously, and multi-table play usually runs smoothly. The low number of tables allowed at a time may be an issue for professional players though.
Action Poker is decently suited for multi-table play with big and easily visible cards and simple software. However, the tables are a fixed size, a little cluttered and there is no mini view or other special multi-table function.
Graphics
The graphics of the Action Poker software are quite satisfactory and most users seem to appreciate them. The table functions are well oriented and easy to learn. Action Poker does not offer avatars of any kind and the screen name of the player is the only thing visible at the designated seat.
