Almost 150 ladies threw in their $200 buy-in for the World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) Ladies Poker Championship at Harrah's Rincon Casino, but in the end it was all about Schmidt. Linda Schmidt, actually, who took the title in the fastest WSOPC final table finish ever.
These were the numbers: 147 entries. Just under $25,000 in the prize pool. And just over an hour was all it took for Schmidt to retire all of her final table opponents and rake in the $8,085 first place cake.
Runner-up was Tammy Brown, a school teacher from Escondido, Calif., playing in her first-ever live poker tournament. She scored $4,242.
A nice payout for both ladies, to be sure, but the action steps up a notch again today with the start of the $5,000 WSOPC main event.
PokerListings.com is live from San Diego for said main event, with up-to-the-minute tournament coverage from two of the biggest stars in up-to-the-minute poker tournament coverage, Owen Laukkanen and Matt Showell.
