A crew of poker pros worth their weight in gold bracelets is turning out for a new PartyPoker.com television series to be broadcast in the U.K.
Premier League Poker will air on Channel 4 throughout the U.K., delivering a roster of 12 top poker professionals who will play for a $500,000 pot.
Andy Black, Kiril Gerasimov, Liz Lieu, Ian Fraser, Roland De Wolfe, Vicky Coren, Juha Helppi, Kenna James and Eddy Scharf each bought in for $20,000 and PartyPoker.com has added $260,000 to the prize pool.
The series is developed by Matchroom Sport to showcase each player's talents. The pros will compete six times in the preliminary stages, with the leading four players progressing to the final table. The remaining four will wage a heads-up war for the final two seats.
"Premier League Poker is an exciting new concept and is sure to make great television," said PartyPoker.com in a release. "The interest from pros on both sides of the Atlantic has been excellent."
Filming runs Feb.26 until the grand final on March 4 at Maidstone Studios, Kent.
"It's always challenging to match wits with the world's best poker players but I'm coming for the title - make no mistake about that!" said Hellmuth.
