888.com announces U.K. Poker Open 2006

888.com announced this week that the U.K. Poker Open 2006 will take place Sept. 5 through Oct. 8 in Maidstone, U.K. Satellite qualifiers are currently running every Sunday at 888.com.

"In the U.K. Open our online poker players will have the opportunity to play real live high-class poker, meet great poker pros, and take part in one of the most high-action tournaments in Europe," said Mike Herea, 888.com promotions department manager.

The tournament brings together online players as well as poker pros to compete for a share of the $500,000 prize pool. The event will also be broadcast every day at 11 p.m. on Challenge TV.

Online players can try to win their seats through the Sunday qualifiers at 888.com which have a $100 plus $5 buy-in. The site also has free daily super satellites where players can win their way into the Sunday qualifier.

The last qualifier for the U.K. Poker Open will be Sept. 17.
