2010 WCOOP Guarantees Record $50 Million
The ninth annual PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker is set to begin Sept. 5 with $50 million in guaranteed cash.
Easily the richest online poker tournament series in the world, WCOOP's $50 million in guaranteed prize pools marks the most that PokerStars has ever guaranteed for an online tournament series.
The series will consist of 62 events in every poker discipline imaginable, running over 23 days from September 5-27.
Things will kick off with a $215 6-Max No-Limit Hold'em tournament, culminate with a $10,300 High Roller 8-Game event and conclude with the traditional two-day $5,200 buy-in $10 Million guaranteed No-Limit Hold'em main event, starting Sept. 26.
Almost 44,000 players from 140 different countries competed in the 2009 WCOOP when Yevgeniy "Jovial Gent" Timoshenko took down the main event and its $1.7 million first prize.
Even more players are expected this time around.
"Players across the world re-arrange their calendars around the WCOOP schedule," said Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu.
"It is the biggest and best online poker tournament series - and draws in tens of thousands of players, with the deepest structures and a wide variety of events. I can't wait to play this year's series!"
Satellites are already running on PokerStars.
