2009 WSOPE schedule set

John Juanda
Victorious in 2008, John Juanda now knows when his WSOPE Main Event title defense will begin.

Once again the World Series of Poker is headed across the Atlantic after things wrap up in Las Vegas this summer.

The third annual World Series of Poker Europe presented by Betfair will go off September 17 to October 1 with four bracelet events.

"The World Series of Poker Europe has quickly established itself as the most prestigious tournament outside the United States," WSOP Commissioner Jeffrey Pollack said.

"Winning a gold bracelet is recognized globally as the top prize in the sport and we look forward to awarding four more bracelets in 2009 at the Casino at the Empire in London."

The four scheduled events include a brand new £2,500 Pot-Limit Hold'em/Pot-Limit Omaha mixed event, a £1,000 No-Limit Hold'em tournament with two start dates, a £5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha tournament and the £10,000 World Championship No-Limit Hold'em Main Event.

At just 18 years-old, Annette Obrestad took home the first ever WSOPE Main Event title two years ago, banking £1 million in the process.

Last year, Full Tilt's John Juanda stood tall after a 21-hour epic final table to take home £868,800.

In London's famed Leicester Square, the Casino at the Empire has already begun offering satellites.

Players can pre-register for events at any London Clubs International venue in the UK or during the 2009 WSOP at the Rio All-Suites Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

The Rio will also play host to a number of Mega satelites for the Main Event July 9, 10 and 11.

Exclusive online satellites will be running on Betfair Poker, including a freeroll series with a $1 million first place prize with the final table to be played out at the WSOPE.

ESPN360.com is scheduled to provide live WSOPE coverage in the U.S., Europe, Mexico and Brazil.
