2008 WSOP Main Event final table starts today

The Feature Table

By Arthur Crowson

After more than three months of waiting the players at the final table of the 2008 WSOP Main Event will finally get down to business today.

Starting at 10 a.m. PST the questions surrounding the 117 final-table delay that has dominated the 2008 WSOP will be answered.

Will 53-year-old Dennis Phillips be able to maintain the momentum that saw him charge to the chip lead in the later stages of the WSOP? Will Craig Marquis or Peter Eastgate be able to break Phil Hellmuth's record in becoming the youngest Main Event champ? Will Scott Montgomery or Darus Suharto finally be able to score one for the Great White North?

Although hype surrounding the final table has been slow at times during the three-month break, there are a number of intriguing storylines going into the conclusion of the event and Harrah's is hoping for record-breaking TV numbers when the event airs on ESPN on Tuesday.

PokerListings.com readers won't have to wait that long, however, as the live tournaments crew has been camped out in the Rio for most of the week and will be bringing the usual high standard of tournament reporting to the final table. Keep checking the live tournaments section for the latest chip counts, photos and eventual interview from the heart of the Rio.

You can keep yourself busy in the meantime by learning more about the final-table contestants. PokerListings TV just launched and you can now watch interviews with Dennis Phillips, Scott Montgomery, David "Chino" Rheem and more.

If reading is more your thing you can check out a ton of WSOP final table information on the live tournaments home page with interviews, photos and blogs all available for consumption.

The final table will play down to the last two players today and heads-up will continue tomorrow (Nov. 11) at 10 p.m. PST.
