2007 WSOP: Hoyt Corkins gets bracelet number two

Hoyt Corkins values his second WSOP bracelet higher than the first

It took Hoyt Corkins 15 years to repeat his victory from the 1992 World Series of Poker. Back then, Corkins won a $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha event. This time he took home Event 30, $2,500 Six-Handed No-Limit Hold'em.

The 2007 WSOP triumph gave Hoyt Corkins $515,065 in prize money, compared to the $96,000 he won in 1992. In an interview with PokerListings.com reporter Arthur Crowson, Corkins revealed that he values his latest victory much higher.

"Actually this one is a lot better even though I was probably more excited about the first. I guess now that I'm older and more of an established pro, you're expected to do things and win gold bracelets. It's a big thrill to have two," said Hoyt Corkins.

Event 32, $2,000 Seven-Card Stud was also scheduled to end on Day 20, but instead play was stopped when eight players remained and the final table was set. Jeffrey Lisandro tops the field ahead of Daniel Negreanu and Greg Pappas.

Event 31, $5,000 World Championship Heads-Up No-Limit Hold'em, continued with its second day. Eight players remain in the tournament, and they will be back tomorrow to compete for the golden bracelet and the $425,594 first prize.

Two new tournaments with star-studded staring fields got underway on Day 20: Event 33, $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha w/Re-buys and Event 34, $3.000 Limit Hold'em.
