Things are heating up at the National Poker League's Vegas Open with the $15,000 buy-in No-Limit Hold'em championship event set to begin on Monday, Dec. 3.

The championship event will see high rollers from around the world convene to play in the potentially lucrative tournament. In addition, winners from each stop on the NPL tour, including the Asia Open, Australian Open, United Kingdom Open and Vegas Open, will all be meeting up to play in the event.

One such winner is Kathy "PokerKat" Liebert who won Event 1 of the Vegas Open by beating a stacked final table that included 2007 WSOP Player of the Year Tom Schneider, James Van Alstyne and Chuck Kelly.

PokerKat won $56,000 for her efforts as well as the seat into the $15,000 championship.

Last year it was Keith Tilston who took down the final event of the Vegas Open and in the process pocketed a stunning $100,000. In the past marquee players like Max Pescatori, J.C. Tran and Andy Bloch have taken part in NPL events.

The NPL Vegas Open championship is open to the public and interested players can qualify in satellites for as little as $1,060.

The Las Vegas Open is televised in high definition on the INHD network with Las Vegas radio personality Dave Farra and poker player Kirk Morrison providing the commentary for this year's broadcast.
