Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. yesterday released the schedule for the 2006 World Series of Poker (WSOP) which will begin on June 25 and run until August 10.
The legendary series will be held at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino for the second year in a row, and will consist of 44 events and award 44 gold bracelets. The first four days of the 44th event, the $10,000 No-Limit Texas Hold'em World Championship Event, will commence on July 28 with a maximum of 8,000 players. The final table will take place on August 10.
The 2005 Joseph Hachem took home first place along with a WSOP bracelet and $7.5 million. The total number of registered players in the entire 2005 WSOP was 32,341. The gross prize pool was an estimated $106 million.
The Second Annual World Series of Poker Lifestyle Show will run from July 27-30 in conjunction with the WSOP at the Rio, Harrah's also announced. The trade show will host international exhibits and feature a wide variety of poker products, websites, books, and clothing. The First Annual World Series of Poker Lifestyle Show took place during the WSOP in 2005 and boasted more than 50,000 visitors.
